Pod2g, the famous iOS hacker demoed a video of an untethered jailbreak few days ago on The New iPad (aka iPad 3) running iOS 5.1. We already know that he was successfully able to manage an untethered jailbreak on iOS 5.1 before iOS 5.1.1 was released and he managed to use those exploits to create an untethered jailbreak on iOS 5.1.1 as is depicted from his tweets and list.
Recently, Pod2g updated a lot of information regarding the jailbreak on iOS 5.1.1 and many queries regarding the same on his blog. The information includes answers to various queries he had been getting lately on Twitter regarding the latest jailbreak and also the “List of Devices” that will be supported by the latest to-be-released iOS 5.1.1 Jailbreak.
Here is the whole list categorized as follows:-
The Devices on which the jailbreak will be supported for sure:
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 4S
- iPad 1
- iPad 2 Wifi
- iPad 3 Wifi
The list of devices not supported for now (but may be supported later):
- iPhone 3Gs
- iPod 3G
- AppleTV 3
Here are the devices which are still left to be tested:
- iPod 4G
- iPad 2 GSM
- iPad 2 CDMA
- iPad 2 Wifi, R2
- iPad 3 CDMA
- iPad 3 Globa
- AppleTV 2
With this list, he also said that he won’t be releasing the jailbreak to any beta testers to test the jailbreak on other devices as he doesn’t want any leak to happen and said that he is constantly working on it and the jailbreak will be out in a week or so.
We can also expect the sales of old iPhone devices like iPhone 3Gs to drop and new devices sale picking pace as a later support on jailbreak for these devices is a disappointment as to what if when their support is released, Apple releases a new iOS and stops signing the one for which the jailbreak is available for. So, this comes as a sad news for Unlockers on iPhone 3Gs for they maybe stuck with the old iOS 5.0.1 for a little more longer unless the support is available.
For those of who you missed Pod2g‘s jailbreak video on iOS 5.1 untethered on The New iPad, here it is:
